The Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie visited the Group Health Centre (GHC) to see their new colposcopy exam bed, funded in part by the Club’s $30,000 donation, using proceeds from their Take Your Pick Draw. This bed has new advanced features designed to enhance patient care for expectant mothers and those with accessibility issues.
“The Rotary’s generous donation is a meaningful investment in women’s health,” said Lil Silvano, GHC President and CEO. “It enhances comfort and improves access all while helping us care for patients in the right place at the right time.”
“This colposcopy bed is truly a game-changer for us,” added Lynn Mckeachnie, GHC Registered Nurse Lead, Women’s Health.
“It allows us to treat patients with accessibility issues in a way that is not only easier but also far more comfortable. We’re absolutely thrilled with this donation – it’s like gold to us. We are incredibly grateful for this support, as it helps ensure that every patient, regardless of their mobility or needs, receives the best care possible. Words can’t fully express how thankful we are for this impactful gift.”
Thanks to the donation, GHC also acquired five non-invasive Holter Monitors. These upgraded devices are non-invasive and allow patients to continue with their daily activities while being monitored. It’s especially beneficial for all ages, including newborns, since the older models could be quite uncomfortable with multiple wires and adhesives. This change not only enhances comfort but likely improves the accuracy and consistency of monitoring, which is essential for diagnosing heart conditions.
The Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie is grateful for the community’s ongoing and generous support of its two annual Take Your Pick Draws, which makes the Club’s good work possible.
