Corey’s connection to Group Health Centre goes back generations on both sides of his family   

Congratulations to Corey Caple -- our September Big Wish Monthly 50/50 Winner!

Having lived in various parts of the country, Corey is well aware of the unique structure of GHC.   “I’ve worked in the military and for government agencies in both the public and private sector and lived in many different places. I can say for certain there is nowhere out there that provides health care services in quite the same way as Group Health Centre,” Corey remarked   “My parents and I wholeheartedly believe in supporting local especially when it comes to fundraising activities.  I know my money will be staying in the community and that’s very important to me,” he added.  

When asked if there was anything he would like to share about his experience, Corey proudly stated “This is proof that you can help your community and be a winner.  This couldn’t have come at a better time, and I will continue to give back whenever I can,” he concluded.

RON IS THE WINNER OF OUR AUGUST BIG WISH 50/50 DRAW!

A father of two and grandfather of one, Ron is a longsstanding supporter of the Group Health Centre and has close family ties to the establishment of GHC. "My Dad, George, was the President of Office Workers 4509 when the Group Health Centre was being developed. He was a great friend of John Barker and the first person to sign up from his union group, but unfortunately passed away suddenly in 1962, a year before GHC opened its doors." he shared with Trust Fund staff.

Ron is a consistent contributor of Group Health Centre Trust Fund initiatives and makes it a priority to support local and provincial health care organizations. He mentioned that he doesn't like to play the lottery but instead support the efforts of the local charitable and non-profit groups in the community. 

Ron has three items on his updated shopping list - a new computer, a barbecue and next year's golf membership at Sault Golf Club. When asked what he'd like to tell everyone about his winning experience Ron said "Let's keep our money in Sault Ste. Marie and let's spend on health care" he concluded.

When Big Wishes Strike Twice

Our July Big Wish Monthly 50/50 Draw Winner is Sergio Saccucci!

Sergio wasn’t expecting to win this draw, it isn’t even his first win with the Trust Fund – he also won an early bird draw in the Big Wish Mega 50/50 back in November of 2020! “I don’t play every month, but I bought these most recent tickets the morning of the draw when I settled in with my coffee to check my emails,” he recalled. Sergio bought tickets because he likes to support local charitable initiatives as a way to give back. “Group Health Centre takes care of us medically – it’s a great facility and this is a great way to support. It’s a win-win,” he shared.

When asked what he would tell others, Sergio said “It feels fantastic to win. The only way to do that is to purchase a ticket,” he concluded.

Sault Ste. Marie couple, Ron and Isabel Chapman won $13,150 in June, 2021

The couple, who have been married for 49 years in August, are looking forward to using their winnings to travel across Canada! "We had a trip planned for last year that was delayed because of COVID-19. We were going on a Rocky Mountaineer Rail Tour starting in Jasper and travel to British Columbia and now we're looking forward to that at the end of the summer," Isabel shared. Looking ahead to their 50th anniversary in 2022, the couple are also planning to take their two sons and their families on a vacation somewhere closer to home. "Winning this prize will definitely make that easy for us."
